Corporate Responsibility

Corporate Citizenship

As part of State Street’s commitment to the economic well‐being of our communities around the world, we’re dedicated to supporting education and workforce development for less‐advantaged populations.

We manage giving programs in 38 communities around the world. Across the globe, our employees volunteer on regional committees, identifying needs and partnering with local non-profits to create meaningful change.

Community Investment

Through State Street Foundation, State Street’s charitable arm, we make grants to non-profits and non-governmental organizations in 26 countries. The Foundation’s primary strategic focus areas are education and workforce development.

We believe the most effective way to improve the overall well-being of our communities is to help disadvantaged individuals earn and make a living. By focusing on education and work, we will bring lasting economic benefits to the communities where we live and work.

Some of our partners include:

  • Shishu Mandir
  • Association of People with Disability
  • Child Fund
  • Society for Door Step School
  • KC Mahindra Education Trust
  • Pratham Council for Vulnerable Children
  • Ashray Akruti
  • Pratham Education Foundation
  • United Way Hyderabad

GIVE

Our Giving, Investing, Volunteering by Employees (GIVE) Program allows employees to decide how to create meaningful impact on the communities where we live and work. To do so, it recognises the charitable contributions made by our employees by monetising volunteer time (DoMore), matching financial donations (GiveMore) and supporting individual fundraising efforts (CollectMore).

Employee Engagement

Employees receive two paid days a year to volunteer their time and service in local communities for causes they’re passionate about. Through our volunteer program, we help community organizations draw on the resources and talents of our employees. We also support the communities we work in, sponsoring charitable fundraising events, contributing to small businesses, and affordable housing investment funds. We’re proud that State Street employees contributed over 123,000 community outreach hours in 2017.

Employee‐led committees also help us execute our strategy in 38 communities around the world. There are also opportunities for employees to guide State Street Foundation’s grants, become volunteer ambassadors or join a non-profit Board of Directors.

In India, our employees are highly active in various community events like the Freedom Ride in Hyderabad and Tata Marathon in Mumbai. To engage our employees in causes they are passionate about, we work with community partners including Muskan Foundation, Pratham, Teach to Lead and Association of People with Disability. In 2017, over 4,400 State Street employees in India chose to volunteer.

Inclusion & Diversity and Employee Networks

As a global company, we value the experiences, interests and capabilities that make our employees unique. A diverse workforce and an inclusive culture are essential parts of our corporate identity. Together, inclusion and diversity provide us with a variety of perspectives to draw from as we innovate, engage, constructively debate, and create our Way Ahead.

Global Inclusion & Diversity is our company-wide initiative to ensure employees feel engaged and recognised for their unique talents and contributions to our business.

In India, we have several networks and groups for employees, run by employees. These groups come together to share their unique perspectives and increase awareness of their common goal across the company. They also create opportunities for networking and professional development.
